Leaving Domestic Abuse

Where there has been violence and abuse in your relationship, we can help you secure your safety, your children’s safety, your financial security and your freedom.

Putting the pieces together

Often before you leave an abusive relationship, there will be a lot of pieces to put together to create the time and place where you feel ready to take the first steps.

We can help with planning your safe exit from a relationship. This might include working with other services, advising you on gathering evidence and information to take with you, and helping you obtain a Family Violence Restraining Order.

(we are registered to make FVRO applications online)

Taking Action

Once you have everything in place to make the safest possible exit, we can help you continue your forward momentum by starting Family Court processes to secure your children and your property. You might just be grateful to be safe for the moment, but we are here to help you plan your future, not just survive in the moment. Part of that will be executing a plan to get you financial stability and stable arrangements for the care of your children.

Staying sane

Litigation following a family breakdown is never easy, and unfortunately, it is usually necessary when leaving an abusive partner. We try to work with you in a way that will reduce stress and trauma as much as possible, letting you focus your energy on yourself and your children. We can’t guarantee a stress-free ride, but we will be there to give you clear advice along the way.

Moving On

By the end of your journey with us you should be on your way to building a life beyond the abuse, where you can carve out a sense of safety.
